In this tutorial, I'll show you how to use the new library to create an app that offers an intuitive interface for selecting multiple items in a list. RecyclerView Selection, an addon library Google released in March this year, tries to fix this. However, there's one important feature missing in it: support for selecting and tracking list items. Ever since it was added to the Android support library in late 2014, it has eclipsed the ListView widget as the most preferred widget for displaying large, complex lists. The RecyclerView widget is an integral part of most Android applications today. Obviously, I’m not an iOS or a macOS developer, but there’s plenty of work that I do in the terminal and I need some of these tools for. Many useful tools are included such as the Apple eLLVM compiler, linker, and Make. enables UNIX-style development via Terminal by installing command line developer tools, as well ass macOS SDK frameworks and headers. If you work both in a terminal and on a Mac, then you’re likely familiar with the Xcode Command Line Tools (and the necessary utilities they provide for things like Git, building front-end assets, etc.). You don’t need a developer account to access it. TL DR: If the standard terminal commands don’t work for uninstalling and reinstalling the Xcode CLI tools, use this page and search for the latest version of the tools to download. Especially for repetitive tasks when you need to quickly apply the same colors over and over again. The ultimate goal of using a keyboard shortcut is to save time. Even though these workarounds won't directly solve your problem, there are some great tricks to learn here to help save you time. Since there is no direct way, I consider these to be workaround solutions (#1-#4 below). In the first part of this article I will explain all the built-in keyboard shortcuts that will help you apply font and fill colors. Overview of the Font Fill Color Shortcut Solutions And the better news is that I have developed a simple (free) solution that will allow you to easily customize your own keyboard shortcuts for font and fill colors. Sorry I have to be the one to tell you that.īut the good news is that there are a few workarounds that will get you close. Recovery mode will grab several GB's from Apple to install the OS (about 5-6 GB IIRC), it should give error messages but obviously something is failing altogether, open the installer log next time you try it. I have to wonder if the installer download is failing. Notepad, built into Microsoft Windows, and TextEdit, built into Apple's OS X, both work in this way. No choices of fonts, no variation in font size. Like a typewriter, they allow you to do one thing – write. Text editorsīasic text editors are the digital eqivalent of the typewriter. There are hundreds of alternatives to Microsoft Word if all you want to do is write. And it is bad for book writing because it has a tendency to become unstable with long files, and its organisational tools are mediocre at best. It is bad for blogs because it creates horribly messy code when you copy-and-paste into a lot of blogging software. It's like having one of those fifty-button remote controls when all you want to do is turn the television on. The thing is, if you have a writing task ahead of you – you're writing a blog post, an article or a book – you need very few of MS Word's features. The various attempts to improve its interface, most notably with the addition of the ' ribbon)', have only made things worse. Today's MS Word is so feature rich that it has become almost impossible to find some tools. One of the biggest drawbacks of MS Word's dominance has been its evergrowing list of features. MS Word is ubiquitous to say the least, particularly in workplaces. It was white type on a blue screen and not much else, but at least you could correct a misspelling without reaching for the Tipp-ex.Įventually Microsoft Word took on the mantle of 'go to' writing tool, and it has reigned supreme for over 20 years. I think the first word processing software I used was WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS. Obviously, and thankfully (for most of us), the desktop computer changed all that. Back in the day, writers had two choices as writing tools: a pen and paper, or a clunky old Olivetti typewriter (or equivalent – mine was an Olympia portable).
